Where I live and why I love it: Pike Creek, DE - About 15 mins south of Nemours in DE. I really enjoy living here because I have yard space for gardening (esp. sunflowers)!!! The parking is excellent, and the commute between Nemours and ChristianaCare is very convenient. I’d especially recommend this area for anyone with a partner commuting south (toward Newark, DE or Baltimore), as access to I-95 South is quick and efficient from here.

Why Nemours? I chose Nemours because of the exceptional academic and professional opportunities, as well as the people who create such a collaborative and supportive environment. During both my 3rd year rotation and sub-I here, I saw firsthand how residents consistently support one another, not just in words, but through meaningful actions. The culture is one of genuine camaraderie, where individuals go out of their way to help each other succeed. I knew I wanted to be part of a residency program where I could thrive both academically and personally, and Nemours embodies that balance.

Why Nemours? When I did my away rotation at Nemours I noticed that not only did the residents consistently ask if I was doing OK or needed any help, they were always checking in with each other and never hesitated to jump in and help a coresident out. It seemed like an enviornemnt where everyone looks out for each other and everyone really works as one big team. Since starting residency here this could not be more true. Having such supportive coresidents has made the transition to residency easier and more fun than expected!

Where I live and what I love about it: I live in Society Hill. It's a cute neighborhood in Philadelphia that has a lot of history and character. I really enjoy the cobblestone roads and treelined streets. I love being in the city and walking to work. As someone who also loves the suburbs, I enjoy the balance between living in the city and commuting to Nemours where there is more nature to enjoy.

Why Nemours? I chose to come to Nemours for the people. Since arriving, I've learned there is so much that Nemours has to offer. It is a great environment. There are tremendous resources. Most importantly, the leadership is very supportive and truly goes out of their way to help you bring your passion projects to life.

Why Nemours? It was the people and welcoming environment that they created that caught my attention during interview day. When I visited for Second Look, I was blown away by the hospital and the supportive environment between residents and faculty. I knew then that Nemours would be the perfect place for my training and education. There are also so many opportunities to get involved in the community or to pursue whatever your career interests are, which was important to me as well.

Why Nemours? I picked Nemours for its large(r) program size, supportive learning environment, commitment to health equity & advocacy, and proximity to my family in NJ. The faculty and residents are so kind, down to earth, and seem to truly enjoy what they do. Why Nemours? Out of everywhere I looked for residency, Nemours was by far the best of every world. Being a stand alone children's hospital allows for access to a vast amount of resources for patient care that other places don't have. The residency class size is also perfect for getting to know so many great people without feeling lost in a crowd. More than anything, the kindness of everyone I met throughout the interview season held true when I started residency. It truly is a place unlike anywhere else!

Where I live and what I love about it: Wilmington, DE. I live in a suburban area with various shops and restaurants nearby, but also tons of green spaces and very dog friendly. The short commute to the hospital makes a WORLD of a difference to me (10 minutes with traffic).

Why Nemours? When considering programs, I knew I wanted a standalone children’s hospital with a medium-to-large program size, wide range of subspecialties, and X+Y schedule. On interview day, residents and faculty were so welcoming and seemed so happy to work here. Residency is known for its steep learning curve, but at Nemours I am consistently pushed out of my comfort zone while also supported every step of the way, surrounded by people who genuinely love to teach. This has made such a meaningful difference in my first months as a resident and has already made me grow so much as a person!

Why Nemours? Nemours has such a well rounded program with lots of opportunities in different areas, and at the same time you still get to know your co-residents and mentors well! I am interested in gen peds/primary care and in particular mental health in diverse patient communities. The providers at Nemours are passionate about primary care and serve a diverse array of patients in Wilmington, Philly, and beyond. Also, the community is so genuine. The residents are diligent and caring but also funny and playful, and they are so fun to be around!! :D
